Entertainment vs Digital Opiates: Consuming With Intent

When you consume entertainment, whether it’s movies, music, television, or something else, consider how you consume it. Is it background noise? Do you watch sitcoms at night to quiet your mind, or do you watch epic series-based entertainment with full intent for the minutest of details?

There are micro-lessons everywhere. You can watch The Godfather or Mr. Robot, for example, or Game of Thrones, for important overt messages centered around string-pullers and Machiavellian behaviors. You can also watch Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother or even Spongebob Squarepants with intent and extract valuable insights.

Train yourselves away from deliberate mind-numbing. Attentiveness and Intent are two critial traits which will help you to survive and thrive in this new paradigm.

You don’t need Crowley or ritualized instruction to raise yourself to the equivalent of an OTO V°, whereby: “the candidate is instructed in the value of discretion, loyalty, independence, truthfulness, courage, self-control, indifference to circumstance, impartiality, scepticism, and other virtues, and at the same time assisted him to discover for himself the nature of [the supreme] secret, the proper object of its employment and the best means for insuring success for its use.” [The Confessions of Aleister Crowley]
